HOME CARE, IF THE CARING PERSON IS PREVENTED SGB XI § 39

If the caring person is prevented from caring because of holiday, sickness or
other reasons, the health insurance company covers the costs for a
necessary replacement for a maximum of 4 weeks a year, § 34 paragraph 2,
sentence 1 is not valid. The requiremnet is that the caring person has cared
for the dependent person for at least 12 months at home before the
prevention. The money spent by the health insurance company should not
exceed 1432 Euro per year for each case.
If the substitue for the caring person is related to the dependent person up
until the 2nd grade relation or related by marriage or lives with him together,
it is assumed that the care is done without making a profit. In the cases the
money spent by the health insurance company should not eceed the care
money of the actual care level like mentioned in § 37 paragraph 1.
Also for the health insurance stated extra costs of the caring person in
connection with the additional care can be taken on.
The money spent by the health insurance like mentioned in sentences 4 and
5 should not exceed the in sentences 3 mentioned amount.
